Spring Awakening is Back and Better than Before
Spring Awakening is back and better than before. Opening up in Chicago on June 16th, this two day festival is already causing an uproar throughout the city limits, and even beyond.
Taking some time off last year just might have been what the event needed. Two years ago, the festival–if it could have been called that–was just another show at the Congress Theater. Benny Benassi, Above & Beyond and Second Sun shook the venue to its foundation, but they can’t quite compete with the lineup released last week. Afrojack, Skrillex, Moby, Morgan Page, Nervo, Wolfgang Gartner, Laidback Luke, Hardwell and Chicago’s own, Midnight Conspiracy will all be making appearances over the course of the two day festival. This should come as no surprise though, seeing as how the festival is yet another masterpiece created by the great minds behind React Events. React has already paved the way for the EDM scene in Chicago through venues such as Congress Theater and The MID Night Club, so to say that Spring Awakening will literally “awaken” the festival season is no stretch at all.
It is also interesting to see how the festival lineup is shaping up. I am sure we have all heard the rumors that the infamous French duo, Daft Punk, was going to hold a headlining slot at the festival, which has proven to be untrue. There are more rumors, though, that future press releases are soon to come out; maybe one of these will soon let us all know that the lineup is not yet complete. Daft Punk in Chicago – let us all pray to the EDM Gods for some help with this one.
