The Race For The “TOP 100″
Well according to DJMAG.COM there’s only 39 days left in the race for DJ Mag’s Top 100.
I’m sure that by now most of you, if you happen to follow EDM, have been voting for your favorite DJs for the past few years already. It should come as no surprise that past years have placed DJs such as David Guetta, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Deadmau5, Avicii, Afrojack, and Axwell at the top of the list. The undeniable growth in popularity surrounding the EDM community has brought many new members to the voters arena, as well as many new artists.
When perusing online through hundreds of DJ profiles, pages, and websites, you start to notice – “VOTE NOW! DJ MAG’S TOP 100,” at the bottom of every DJ’s profile or page. You also start to notice a little bit more, “propaganda,” if you will. Hardwell, who broke into the scene heavily in 2009, just launched his first “Q&A Episode.” From what this first video shows, the future episodes are going to be an inside look at the life of Hardwell. The first episode covered a little bit of his life on tour, how he feels about the scene, and some information you might not have known.
Persoanlly, I think this is a great idea. The EDM seen is blowing up, and people want to know what it is all about and who is behind it. A series documenting the life of one of EDM’s biggest seems to be a good way to go about that. There are though, some skeptics who are already saying that this is just a way to get there faces out there and slowly inch up their way up the ladder of the growing EDM scene – a way to rise in the rankings of charts such as the “DJ Mag’s Top 100.”
